"say what? canon has a waterproof camera?" 2009-07-04
By V. A. Sepulveda (Los Angeles)
I just got my D10, and i love it! i cant wait to take it on vacation and let my 5 year old take charge of the pictures.. I have had other powershots and use a 20d. So i am very familiar to how the camera works. I like the fact that the zoom lens is incased and protected by scratch resistant glass. what i don't like is it is a bit bulky, but nevertheless i still bought it, and love it.

I did buy the Olympus stylus 850 waterproof camera last year, and while snorkeling water leaked into that camera so there went my trust in that camera...

"Many hours in the water" 2009-07-03
By Paul T. Scheller
I have been through many underwater cameras including those with housing. This by far is the simplest and provides the best pictures. 10 feet is the limitation of many cameras keeping you close to the surface. Deeper than 33 doesn't provide enough light for good pictures. This camera lets you go right where you need to be. Buttons are easy to push, start up time and shooting happen plenty fast. I had many 4 to 6 hour days in the water and the camera performed flawlessly. Very happy.

"Good to Great - One suggested item" 2009-07-02
By Humble Opinion (Illinois)
I am very happy with the picture quality, construction, and the portability of the Canon PowerShot D10. I have always wanted a camera to take pictures while in and around water. My only suggestion is to add a view finder. It is difficult to frame a picture in the LCD viewfinder. The video function also worked well.

Extreme care should be used when inspecting the seals around the compartment doors. If you forget to shut a compartment door; or sand, dirt, debris is around the seal -- the camera will leak. This is not a design flaw, but an issue that needs attention every time one uses the camera in water.

I would not be surprised if the seals would periodically need replacement.

"Great Camera for the money" 2009-07-01
By Tammy (Texas Gulf Coast)
I was going to buy a cheap underwater camera to use on vacation for snorkeling but in reading reviews on the various models out there, I kept coming back to the Cannon. I decided to spend a little bit more and get this one and I'm very glad I did. It does everything I could wish for and more... It's smarter than I am! It took great pictures both in the water and out. I didn't have the trouble I thought I would in seeing the viewing screen under water or in bright sunlight. It's a great camera.

I had a bit of worry when I used it the first time because it seemed to be foggy. I found that this seems to be caused by rapid changes in temperature like going from a hot sunny deck to the cool water. But this didn't last long and when I was more careful to keep it from sitting in the sun, I didn't have any more trouble with this.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is very versatile out of water as well and will use it while sailing instead of risking our "good" camera in the saltwater environment.

"Lots of features, easy to use" 2009-06-30
By C. Allen (michigan)
I wanted a camera I could take kayaking. I received this camera about a week ago and have not been dissapointed.

I was a little worried about a camera that had so many different funtions that I would have a hard time learning how to use a new camera. Wrong! This camera is very user friendly.

The Auto mode, is really automatic. The camera does a great job of picking the focus area, turning on macro, if needed, all automaticly.

The timer feature actually picks up a new face in the photo and starts the timer when you look at the camera. How cool is that? This camera is really fun to use.

The directions are easy to follow and questions I had were answered by an easy index in the book.

One of the things I really like about this camera is that you can see the photos taken even in quite bright sunlight. No more point and shoot and hope you got the picture.

I will be using this camera for more than just water sports.
